The beginning of December certainly dealt it's little surprises. Whilst holidaying in Thailand, I, Yolanda was lucky enough to be caught up in the Bangkok airport closures and demonstrations. delaying my trip home and updating newsletters, web pages and the million other things to do.

Fortunately, my family and I were able to buy our way out of Thailand. Besides that, we had a fabulous time riding and feeding elephants, laying on the beach whilst being massaged and manicured, being photographed with the lady boys  and even riding the infamous Tuk Tuks.

Well I am truly back into it all here and have oodles of exciting news such as Peter Langs New summer range is now instore......

Illawarra Mercury Bridal Expo

Well it s that time of the year again. Cheboom will be at stand 34 downstairs in the main area. We will be featuring new designs from Gee Gee Bridal and Elizza-beth designs both on the catwalk and on exhibition on our stand. We hope to see you all there for an information packed day.

Cheboom is proud to announce the arrival of the Peter Lang Bridal winter collection as well as the sought after Stephanie Browne collection.

Trunk Show

Due to the success of our previous in house designer days, we will again bring Suzie G from GeeGee Bridal back in store on March 20. We are taking appointments but there are only a few spots left.

They are 30 minute appointments and FREE of charge. Suzie will have her collection in our store as well as she will be able to advise styles etc for each individual bride. Suzie is also available for her couture range for the bride that wants something a little different. We will also be running a special in store promotion on the day. Details will be advertised in store on March 20.

Mother of the Bride

We have pleasure in advising our new Mother of the Bride/Groom range. The range is Australian made and consists of sleek tailored lines much like the Audrey Hepburn era. The range is called Smith & Hope and will be available shortly ( this month). Smith & Hope incorporate gorgeous silks in a style that will flatter the young at heart Mother of the Bride/Groom. Watch this space.

New Stock

We hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and New Years break. We had our great little summer getaways and are all refreshed for this new wonderful year ahead of us.

We have just purchased some amazing new Bridal and Formal gowns that will compliment our existing ranges. They will not be in store until late May/early June but we will be showing little snippets of what is to come.

Designer Day

Cheboom is holding it's second designer day. The last one being held during the Mercury Bridal Expo and being a huge success. Suzie G, Gee Gee Bridal Gown Designer is visiting from Melbourne and taking appointments to meet and greet our current brides and to answer those questions to the new brides seeking professional advice with their choice and suitability of our range of Bridal gowns. Farewell to Sunny Europe

Well my time in Europe has come to an end with a well deserved break in Hong Kong. Just hoping our Australian summer is no where near as hot and humid as Spain and Hong Kong. It is always fantastic to touchdown at Sydney. 

Am looking forward to designing some Mantillas for our store and helping the brides place them in their correct position however showing what little twists you can do with them.

Hair Flowers are definitely in fashion for this summers brides. Hair is soft with large flowers being placed on the nape of the neck. You can even place two flowers together.  Large earrings are also looking good. 

Well I am back now so it's back to long hours shopping for new products and getting ready for the very busy wedding season coming up soon. Hope to see you instore soon.

Wollongong Bridal Expo 2007

Well the Wollongong Bridal Expo went off with a Bang. We had a fabulous response to our new range of Gee Gee Gowns with Suzie G herself attending the expo and giving her professional advice to all that enquired. The fashion parade was great with the Ruby and Clementine gowns having fantastic feedback. Both these gowns are made from silk and come in a variety of colours. They will be featured on our website shortly. We will have a link shortly to photos from the 2007 Mercury Bridal Expo.

Hello from Spain's Costa Del Sol

Hi all. This is Yolanda tuning in from Spain. The weather here is hot hot hot and the tan is happening. Been doing lots if sight seeing as well as family bonding. Spain is full of the latest fashions and trends and there seems to be an aweful lot of yellow and polka dots everywhere. 

Accessories are everywhere. Big chunky necklaces as well as long dangly earrings and hoops. Layers of silver bracelets are also the latest trend along with foot/toe bracelets and ring/wrist bracelets. 

Formal gowns are very printed with soft florals and colours. Wedding Gowns are flouncy and soft. From gorgeous laces to softest chiffons layered in a frilled manner. Crystals are not as pronounced as they have been in the past with emphasis more on accessories and gorgeous mantilla veils. Spain is renown for its mantillas as well as Peinetas. They are a type of comb protruding from your hair , either in the side of the head or on the back.

White is very in.  Looks great with a summer tan or a beach wedding.

One month since our new move

Since we have relocated, the response from our existing and new customers has been fantastic. We have also had a wonderful response and immense support from the local community of Port Kembla. 

Wentworth Street is starting to grow. New shops are about to open including antiques, picture framing, new delicatessens and much more being developed behind the scenes, We will hopefully soon see more boutiques and eclectic shops move in. 

Wentworth Street already has wonderful lingerie, unique bridal boutique, one of the best known cake shops, affordable antiques, artists, doctors, Sports shops, chemist, restaurants, cafes, Post office, newsagent, real estate agents, travel agents, butchers, take away, Petrol station, clubs, pubs, quality furniture and much much more.

Illawarra Mercury Bridal Expo 2006

What a fantastic day had by all. The interest in our gorgeous display was absolutely amazing. All 7 staff members worked extremely hard all day. We congratulate all our staff and customers for the overwhelming success of the day and for the patience from all our customers.  

Our designers were on board and it was wonderful for them to meet and speak to our customers. Our commitment in offering our customers personal and friendly service made the day so fabulous. 

The fashion parade was fantastic fun. This was a first for cheboom and whilst our bellies were turning and tossing with "first time" nerves, our models elegantly graced the cat walk.

Cheboom is relocating

Fantastic NEWS.........

Cheboom Bridal & Formal Boutique   will be closing down its Keira Street Showroom on Saturday 15th July and re-opening at the new premises on Tuesday 18th July.

We found our showroom was too small for all our stock and are moving to a much larger shop on street level with ample 2 hour parking outside our door. We have refurbished the new shop to compliment our ever popular inviting and warm atmosphere along with our new range of Australian made Bridal and Bridesmaid Gowns. 

Our new location details will be posted on this website  before Tuesday 18th. So please stay tuned as we advertise our new premises and opening specials.

We have a new jewellery designer from Queensland on board as well as new suppliers from around he globe.

We have now acquired our personalised Jewellery Designer working with beautiful Swarovski Crystals and Pearls. Portofino Bridal Evening 2005

We will be exhibiting at this Bridal evening. Usually takes place on a Thursday Night between 6.00pm and 9.00pm. You may need to contact the Portofino direct to make a booking. Date to be advised.

Wollongong Bridal Expo 2005

We recently had a stall at the Wollongong Bridal Expo and the day proved to be a wonderful success.  Most Brides were surprised to see what a wonderful range of accessories we had. ie Jewellery, Tiaras and Shoes. Also exhibited was Hannah our model who modeled a sample Bridesmaid/Formal gown in Ice Blue. Design by Cheboom. We had a great response to this also. Below is a photo of our stall.

Modern Wedding Magazine

We recently participated as stylists for a photo shoot for the next edition of Modern Weddings Magazine. The shoot was at Araluen, a beautiful, old, graceful and very vintage Wedding Reception venue at Epping in Sydney. Along with our accessories, Bridal and Formal Gowns were supplied by Flaire Fashions of Sydney. The day was exhausting but very rewarding.
